In Their Own Words: A Panel Discussion on Immigration
May 22, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm$45 – $60
Today, immigration to the United States is at its highest level since the early 20th century. In fact, as a result of the variety of these recent immigrants, the United States has become a truly multicultural society. The story of America — who we are and where we come from — is still being written.
Join us as 4 immigrants from Turkey, Brazil, Scotland, and Hong Kong share their experience and stories about the successive waves of immigrants arriving from all countries of the globe, and about our nation’s struggle to both absorb them as well as adapt to them as a constant thread in our history.
As an immigrant from Hong Kong to the United States, Alice knows how it feels to be in a dark tunnel, and what it takes to climb out. Alice faced the reality of starting a career from scratch in a new country, forcing herself to become self-reliant. Self-discovery became her life-calling, and she has since made a name for herself as Financial Advisor, Speaker and Mentor, led to inspire others, especially women, to be courageous, confident and successful. Alice is a Shareholder and Vice President at a local wealth management firm. In 2008, Alice co-founded WIFS Portland (Women In Insurance and Financial Services) Chapter, the first chapter on the West coast of WIFS. WIFS Portland, has been number 1 in membership for many years because it has created great support and network for women in her industry. In 2005, she has stepped off our board to create space for her new found passion – public speaking. Alice is a professional member of the National Speakers Association, Million Dollar Round Table, WIFS Portland and WIFS National. She has gained notoriety and several awards including, Portland Monthly’s FIVE STAR WEALTH Manager, Model of Success at Dress for Success, among others.
