SOLD OUT….Women, Race, and Leadership with Shari Dunn

June 17 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

Join us as Shari Dunn talks about Women, Race, and Leadership: A discussion of what blocks our communication and identification of the “translation” points where we can understand each other’s journeys towards the goal of the advancement of all women.

So many people ask what can we DO?  We recommend the following ACTION be taken by all members of our community:

1. Get Educated and Listen. We recommend being Curious, not Right with whomever you learn from.  Know that the Black people in this country are exhausted and need our solidarity.
2. Support Black Owned Businesses
3. Join the Urban League
4. Put Black Lives Matter on your Social Media and wherever you can speak out against this heinousness!
5. Hire, retain, and promote Black talent. And pay them well.
6. Live your solidarity statement.
7. Make anti-racism your way of life.
8. Don’t ever let up.

About Shari

Shari Dunn,  BA History of Philosophy,  Marquette University, JD, Pritzker School of Law, Northwestern University

Shari has over 20 years of experience in law, executive management, policy, equity-focused work, and media. “Her approach is outside the traditional human resources paradigm and is meant to help institutions with a systemic redesign to bring workplace equity. You have to examine the roots (of a problem), and traditional HR is ill-equipped to deal with the issues that come up with a racially diverse workforce,” she said. “Equity statements have not translated to employment gains for black people and people of color in management and high-level positions. [S]he says, the institutions themselves need coaching, they need equity onboarding for leaders of color, and they need coaching for the staff to be ready to be part of a diverse team.” Portland Business Journal, June 9, 2020. Shari is a sought after thought leader who, with her vast experience, can help translate the equity goals of organizations and institutions into action-based results. Her current roster of clients includes a multi-national home appliance company, a tech company, an international NGO, and an HR staffing firm amongst others. All of these organizations have sought Shari out because of her incisiveness and ability to translate ideas into actionable items.
